About this rank
Purple sash has three items. Sui Min Jeung, the Small Cotton Palm, is an empty-hand form built on soft, continuous handwork. The weapon work starts here: 5 short weapon techniques that apply to the short staff, the dao, and the gim, followed by 5 long weapon techniques for the staff and the spear.
At Shadow Fist, purple sash material is taught step by step in class under your instructor's guidance, then refined at home with the training videos below. This rank also introduces the remainder of the simple locks (chin na) 31-40, trained with a partner. Consistent practice between classes is what makes the material stick.

Smooth, flowing movement
It builds the continuous, soft, and flexible motion required to properly execute Eagle Claw defense and counter-techniques.
Defensive applications
It integrates the system's ten basic punches into practical defensive combinations.
Light footwork and arm coordination
A foundational transition form, often paired with walking practice, that helps practitioners move with balance, agility, and redirected force.
