Black SashSix Stripes
The sixth rank beyond black sash. Six Stripes training adds new techniques, forms, and conditioning on top of everything from the earlier ranks, sharpening speed, precision, and fighting intent.
About this rank
Each stripe beyond black sash marks another layer of the Eagle Claw curriculum. Six Stripes material builds on the earlier stripe ranks with deeper technique work, partner weapon sparring in Dai Do Doi Cheung, and the last 30 rows of Lin Kuen, the mother form of the system.
At Shadow Fist, Six Stripes material is taught step by step in class under your instructor's guidance, then refined at home with the training video below. Consistent practice between classes is what turns each technique into something you can use without thinking.

Partner weapon work
Dai Do Doi Cheung: Kwan Do against Spear
Dai Do Doi Cheung is a paired weapon sparring form in the Fan Zi Ying Jow Pai system: the Kwan Do, a heavy broadsword blade on a long shaft, against the spear. It is a combat drill rather than a solo set, so both students learn the tactics of their own weapon and the counters to the other.
Distance management
The spear owns the long range and the Kwan Do owns the close range. Both sides learn exactly where they want to be standing.
Timing and parrying
Meeting linear thrusts with the shaft and blade, then answering before the spear can recover.
Heavy weapon counters
Tactical counter-application of a heavy chopping and slashing pole weapon against the speed and accuracy of a spear.
Empty-hand form at this rank
Lin Kuen: the last 30 rows
Lin Kuen, translated as Connecting Fist, is the mother form of the Northern Eagle Claw system. Designed by Grandmaster Chan Tzi Ching, it holds every variation of Ngok Fei’s original 108 locking, grabbing, and joint-dislocating techniques across fifty rows. The earlier rows were covered at green sash; the videos here finish the last thirty and close out the seven principles with Noi Sup Chung Dit.
Joint locking and catching
The comprehensive variations of Eagle Claw hand locks, holds, and joint-dislocating manoeuvres (chin na).
Grabbing and striking
Aggressive clawing combined with tendon-separating (fan gun) and precise strikes (da).
Pressure point striking
Accuracy drills for vital pressure points (dim yuet) and controlling the breath (baai hei).
Footwork and coordination
Fifty rows of structured pattern that build full-body coordination, quick stance changes (sim gin), leg sweeps, and movement east to west.
Breathing control
The internal breathing methods needed to keep power smooth and continuous through a long sequence.
Noi Sup Chung Dit (7th principle)
The videos also cover the final Eagle Claw principle, yield the hand and fall away smoothly: give way at the moment of contact, then close again the instant the opponent commits.
