Kung Fu Rank · Yellow Sash, Green Stripe
Yellow SashWith Green Stripe
The green stripe on the yellow sash in our Eagle Claw Kung Fu curriculum. This rank brings a lot of new material: Sui Ying Kuen (small eagle fist), kick combinations, the claws of the Eagle Claw system, the Eagle Claw opening and closing, the first acrobatic element in a form, and 5 new joint locks (chin na).
About this level
Yellow sash, green stripe is a big step forward, built around Sui Ying Kuen (small eagle fist), also translated as the little eagle fist: a traditional foundational to intermediate empty-hand form in the Ying Jow Pai system. The kicks come in combinations rather than one at a time, the claws start doing the work inside the form, and the Eagle Claw opening and closing teach how a set is entered and finished. The rank also adds the first acrobatic element in a form and 5 new joint locks (chin na), practised with a partner so you learn each lock from both sides.
At Shadow Fist, this level is taught in class under your instructor’s guidance and supported by the two training videos below. Short, regular practice at home is what makes the material stick.
- Sui Ying Kuen (small eagle fist), the foundational Eagle Claw empty-hand form taught at this rank.
- Kick combinations, with the stance changes and timing that make them land.
- Eagle claws: the grabbing hand shapes the style is named for, used in the form.
- The Eagle Claw opening and closing, the frame that begins and ends the set.
- The first acrobatic element in a form.
- 5 new joint locks (chin na), trained with a partner from both sides.
