Kung Fu Rank · Brown Sash

Law Horn KuenBuddha Fist

Brown sash teaches Law Horn Kuen, also known as Luohan Quan, the Buddha Fist or Wandering Buddha form: principles, applications, and conditioning inside the Eagle Claw system. The videos also feature the Eagle Claw complex locks 31-40.

About this rank

Law Horn Kuen (Luohan Quan, the Buddha Fist or Wandering Buddha form) is the form for this rank. It pulls the core principles, applications, and conditioning of the Ying Jow Pai (Eagle Claw) system into one set, so the ideas trained separately earlier start working together.

At Shadow Fist, the form is taught step by step in class under your instructor's guidance, then refined at home with the training video below. Practice the form for structure, and the applications with a partner in class. The complex locks continue here with 31-40. Consistent practice between classes is what makes the material stick.

  • Rank: Brown Sash
  • Program: Eagle Claw Kung Fu
  • Form: Law Horn Kuen (Buddha Fist)
  • Focus: Eagle Claw principles, applications, conditioning
  • Locks: Complex locks 31-40

Core teachings and techniques

What the form works on

Eagle Claw principles

Foundational combat concepts including jow da cum na (claw and hit, catch and lock) and fun gun chaw gwat (tear muscles, break bones).

Catching and striking

Counters such as catching an incoming punch, moving the core and feet to absorb or sit back into the attack, then answering with a direct counter-strike or elbow.

Footwork and sweeps

Dynamic lower-body movement: the dragon tail sweep and trapping leg takedown set up by the claw, level changes, and transitions into low stances like the horse stance.

Evasion and jumping

Evasive actions such as jumping or leaping away, back-fists, and claw-offs.
