Advanced Form
Ngan Hon KuenGoose Walking Fist
An empty-hand form in the Eagle Claw curriculum. Ngan Hon Kuen, the Goose Walking Fist, teaches students to move with balance and patience, using light footwork, sudden changes of direction, and precise hand techniques.
About the form
Ngan Hun Kuen, also known as Ngan Hon Kuen or the Walking Goose form, is a traditional empty-hand form in Eagle Claw Kung Fu (Ying Jow Pai) that teaches foundational movement, footwork, and core striking-and-grabbing combinations. It is named for the way a goose moves: steady, unhurried, and ready to change direction in an instant. The form trains balanced stepping, quick pivots, and short, accurate hand techniques rather than heavy power. Working the set develops the footwork, posture, and patience that keep you composed when an opponent tries to rush you.
At Shadow Fist, Ngan Hon Kuen is taught step by step in class under your instructor’s guidance, then refined at home with the training video below. Practice builds the balance, footwork, and accuracy that carry into the rest of the advanced curriculum.
- Focus: Balanced footwork, pivots, and precise hand technique
