Eagle Claw Kung Fu training at Shadow Fist

Advanced Form

Ng Fu Kuen5 Tiger Fist

An empty-hand form in the Eagle Claw curriculum. Ng Fu Kuen, the 5 Tiger Fist, draws on the strength and directness of tiger technique, combining heavy strikes, grabs, and forward pressure across five linked sections.

About the form

Ng Fu Kuen, the Five Tiger Fist, teaches dynamic fighting attributes, fierce tiger-like energy, and advanced physical conditioning rather than just basic hand locks. It trains power from the ground up: strong stances and full-body rotation drive heavy punches, tiger claws, and grips, then each strike follows with a controlling action so the opponent cannot reset. Working the set builds rooted strength, hand conditioning, and the intent to move forward rather than trade space.

At Shadow Fist, Ng Fu Kuen is taught step by step in class under your instructor’s guidance, then refined at home with the training video below. Practice builds the power, structure, and grip strength that carry into the rest of the advanced curriculum.

  • Focus: Rooted power, tiger claws, and forward pressure
  • Type: Empty-hand form
  • Style: Eagle Claw Kung Fu
  • Taught: In class, with a video for home practice

What the form teaches

Key teachings and skills

Fierce tiger movements

The form emulates the power, aggression, and relentless forward pressure of a tiger, with heavy clawing strikes and sweeping, ripping actions.

Agility and footwork

Frequent changes in elevation: rapid up-and-down transitions, dropping stances, jumping techniques, and ground-level sweeps.

Striking power and rhythm

Explosive power generation, timing, and dynamic changes in speed, from fast to slow and slow to fast.

Endurance and spirit

A more advanced, intensive form that challenges a practitioner’s physical stamina, mental focus, and combat spirit.

Chin na integration

It blends tiger-style offensive power with the joint locking, trapping, and grabbing mechanics characteristic of Eagle Claw.
