Advanced Form
Lung Fung Seung GimDragon Phoenix Double Sword
A double-sword form in the Eagle Claw curriculum. Lung Fung Seung Gim, the Dragon Phoenix Double Sword, pairs two straight swords, one aggressive and one defensive, so students learn to attack and cover at the same time.
About the form
Lung Fung Seung Gim, the Dragon Phoenix Double Sword, is a traditional double-weapon form in the Fan Zi Ying Jow Pai (Eagle Claw Kung Fu) curriculum. It treats the two blades as a pair with different jobs. The dragon hand leads with committed cuts and thrusts while the phoenix hand guards, parries, and covers the opening left by the attack. Training the set develops ambidexterity, blade awareness, and the coordination to keep both swords working together.
At Shadow Fist, Lung Fung Seung Gim is taught step by step in class under your instructor's guidance, then refined at home with the training video below. Practice builds the coordination, blade control, and footwork that carry into the rest of the weapon curriculum.

What the form teaches
Dragon Phoenix Double Sword
Twin-blade coordination
It trains both swords to move independently and harmoniously, often with one hand acting like the agile, flowing phoenix and the other like the powerful, striking dragon.
Body mechanics and footwork
Northern double-sword routines emphasize expansive footwork, spinning body turns, agility, and low stances, integrating the mobility of fan zi, tumbling and bursting boxing, with traditional weapon handling.
Offensive and defensive synergy
The form teaches continuous transitions between slashing, slicing, parrying, and blocking, where one sword defends while the other counters, or both strike in a coordinated flow.
Transition to partner work
Mastery of the individual double-sword forms connects directly to higher-level partner drills in the system, such as Doi Gim, fighting sword, and Seung Gim Mo, the double sword dance.
