White SashKung Fu Basics
Where Eagle Claw Kung Fu starts. White sash covers stances, circle walking, the ten basic punches, the ten basic kicks, and how to tie your sash.
About this level
White sash is the foundation of everything that follows. The videos for this level cover the stances and circle walking that teach you to hold a position without tension, move without losing balance, and step into the basic sparring movements, then the ten basic punches and the ten basic kicks that every later form is built from. They also show how to tie your sash the way we wear it in class.
At Shadow Fist, this level is taught in class under your instructor’s guidance and supported by the six training videos and three handouts below. Short, regular practice at home is what makes the material stick.
- Stances first: horse, arrow, and the transitional positions that connect them.
- Circle walking, which teaches the basic sparring movements: how to step, turn, and stay facing your partner.
- The ten basic punches, trained for technique, power and speed.
- The ten basic kicks, with the balance that later forms rely on.
- Sash tying, so your uniform is worn the same way as everyone else in class.

Techniques and combinations
The video series also teaches some basic techniques and movement combinations, called the kung fu basics. They are not tested on. They are there to show the flow between stances and to develop coordination between the hands and the footwork, so the material you are graded on moves more cleanly.
